35 lb. Chinook starts the season

King Salmon Resort - July 16, 2008

Rivers Inlet salmon fishingThanks to the hard work of our staff over the last few weeks, we smoothly accepted our first arrivals for the season here at King Salmon without a hitch. The sun was shining and the waters were calm, and although the fishing took a bit to get going, spirits were high and everyone was full of enthusiasm.

Early mornings spent on glassy waters and evenings around glowing fires set the scene for our guests’ fishing adventure and the warm weather allowed for some great halibut trips and really brought focus to the attractions the inlet has to offer while we took breaks from our salmon hunts.

We’ve already had two notable catches: a 35 lb. Chinook and a 75 lb. halibut. The arrival of some Coho and Pink swimming deep bode well for our fishing season.

Guests have also been enjoying some time out at the Rivers Inlet Outpost, where guests can have some lunch and stretch their legs in the sunshine.

All in all, it was a good start to our season and I’d like send out a big thank you to all our guests for such great attitudes, enthusiasm and company out on the water and at the resort. We can only hope to have trips filled with more like you!

Until I get to see you all again, keep your eyes on your tips and your lines tight.
