Another 50 pounder

King Salmon Resort - August 15, 2007

We took another mouth trip down Darby channel (which is amazing) and then across to Calvert Island for some halibut fishing. The weather has been hot and the waters calm and there were halis everywhere off the south end of Calvert Island.

Coho were kind of sparse but we seemed to find a few. The Coho seem to like a little faster troll.

Cyril Dodge is our newest Masterfisherman with his stellar 50 pound Chinook (King) salmon— congratulations, Cyril!

All this was topped off with another successful bar-b-que at the Rivers Inlet Outpost, cooked by me. So if you love the scenery and want to have a very fun filled day come on out to the Mouth with us enjoy the fishing, the food and the company. If you want the Big One, though, it's in the inlet up near the resort.

My best advice: try 16-22 pulls of the side and the good ol’ 5-8 pulls off the back.

Good luck!
