Coho Fever

King Salmon Resort - September 1, 2005

A new month, a different ocean. At this time of the year, in the north, days are getting shorter and most Chinook salmon are headed up the local rivers. Coho action is still good, sometimes excellent. Hotspots are all towards the mouth of Rivers Inlet. The Wall has produced a good number of fish out in deep water (300’). The Rocks has had the best action, when weather allows. Coho to 18 lbs, double headers (120’ – 200’).

A few very nice halibut taken near the Rocks to 69 lbs. The largest Chinook of the last group was a 44 lb beauty taken first thing in the morning at Drainy Inlet.

All the guests seem to be enjoying themselves.  We hosted  a salmon barbeque at the outpost yesterday, and many boats came in for some hot food on a rainy day. Lots of laughs and good times left in this season.
