Rivers Inlet Fishing Report
King Salmon Resort - August 18, 2005Fishing at King Salmon Resort has improved dramatically over the past few days. The recent rains and cooler weather have moved a fresh wave of fish in to the inlet, and have also started the annual Coho migrations down Fitz Hugh Sound.
Chinook fishing has dramatically improved right around the resort with some very solid fish coming in including a 43 lb beauty this morning. The fishing at the head of the inlet is considered a "trophy fishery", but those willing to put in the time and effort a little farther out can be rewarded with some truly huge Chinook.
Coho fishing the mouth of the inlet took off big time with yesterday morning, dishing up some hot action for our lucky guests. 22 guests brought in over 60 Coho up to 18 lbs in under 6 hours in what can only be described as frantic fanatic fishing!
Double headers of cartwheeling Northerns punctuated by screaming runs and high fives made for a memorable morning for all involved. According to Rob Havers, King Salmon Fishmaster, it was one of the best Coho bites so far this season and as he accurately pointed out - the best Coho fishing is yet to come...
Strong knots and sharp hooks,
