Squid Fishery?

King Salmon Resort - September 9, 2005

There are lots of Coho and quite good halibut fishing out at the mouth of the inlet. Calvert Island has been particularly excellent with numerous triple headers reported.

In other news, a school of squid up to three feet long were hitting our cut plugs and taking out lines like large Chinook. Maybe a new fishery if DFO ups the daily limit of five kilos, or the equivalent of one of these babies. Three were landed.

Chinook fishing at the head of the inlet has dropped off, other than Brandon Hawes, who landed a 42 pounder!  Congratulations to our newest Masterfisherman, Steve Johanson for landing a 21 lb. Coho on this latest trip at King Salmon Resort.  Nice work!

Tight lines,
Fishmaster Rob
